49ers and Sundays

It was finally great to be able to watch a 49er game this weekend without having to change the channel to see what else was on by 2:30.  Being a lifelong 49er fan (of over 30 years so yes, I remember John Brodie and Steve Spurrier, Scott Bull, etc...), I've always rooted for the team through thick and thin but this "thin" was a diet that no one should have to endure.  As a fan, all we should ask for is for a team to be entertaining, win or lose, just give us our money/time worth of entertainment.

The last couple of years have been anything but entertaining, but at least for one week, the 2008 team looks like they will keep you in front of the TV for more than a quarter and a half.

A couple of things that I took from the game:

Good

  • We finally have a quarterback that can hit someone in stride
  • J.T. can take a licking and keep on coming at you
  • Offensive draft picks haven't been good the last couple of years, but defensively, Patrick Willis was a score.

Bad

  • We gotta be able to sack a sitting duck like Matt Hasselback more than once
  • Vernon Davis might be big and fast, but it seems like he either can't get open, or once he does catch the ball, he fumbles, or celebrates like he as just won the lotto.

Wierd

  • Watching Isaac Bruce in a 49er uniform
  • Watching Mike Martz on the sidelines and not throwing up

Ha Ha

  • Good thing that Julian Peterson pointed himself out when he made his one sack / penalty.  If he hadn't I wouldn't have even known he was playing.  Looks like he hasn't lost anything since leaving the 49ers.  Great one game, and a ghost the next.
