Ok, I know it's only two games into the season, and that the 49ers are 2-0. I should be happy, but I'm starting to get the feeling that Alex Smith is not going to be the QB that takes the 49ers all the way. I know that there are circumstances that he can't control:
- He is young.
- He is on his third offensive coordinator.
- His wide receivers aren't all that great.
But here is what he can control:
- Know when the Blitz is coming and adapt.
- Throw the ball away instead of getting sacked in the 4th quarter and near field goal range.
He has looked horrible in the last 4 games counting pre-season. HORRIBLE. This is the year he is supposed to show that he at least knows what is going on. Missing receivers is understandable when you are being rushed and are getting hit a lot, but he isn't even throwing the ball. Either he doesn't see the receivers, or doesn't know where he should go with the ball when he is pressured. Both are bad signs. At this point, the 49ers could have kept Jeff Garcia and we would be talking Division and winning a playoff game. Now we are 2-0 and still worried that our QB is the reason we won't get it done.
